When working with large, industrial-size bolts of fabric, the right equipment is necessary to spread it out so it can be cut precisely. Proper spreading can determine the quality of cut components, fabric consumption, and fabric waste for a garment production company. Improper spreading can mean waves on the fabric layer, which will lead to defective cut component and more waste
An automatic spreader handles the spreading process from start to finish. This kind of machine can spread out folded fabric stacks or large fabric rolls with ease. It can be set to the width of the fabric and will automatically cut the fabric away from its roll at the end, if necessary. It also makes face-up and face-to-face spreading possible. The benefits of the spreading machine are numerous! It will:
Automatic spreading machines eliminate the need for an entire spreading crew. Some machines only require one person for operation, while others require two: one to operate the machine and another to check the fabric edge, remove unnecessary creases on the fabric layer, and collect end bits. Be sure to contact us to find the machine that works best for you.
Depending on your needs, there are machines available for different types of fabric from knit to woven, and even for fiberglass. We also offer a relaxing machine, which is designed to relax fabrics by taking out the memory and stretch in the knit and woven materials. This will increase the speed and efficiency of your team and production and leave less room for error.

Muscle strains and sprains are common in the lower back because it supports the weight of the upper body and all that it does. This is why it is safer to use the legs when lifting heavy objects, rather than putting the whole weight of the object on the back and arms.
But everyone knows that, right? The true question is: how can the heaviest things be lifted safely, and without wasting time, space, or man power? There are many lifters out on the market, but we have a better solution: the Hi-Rise On-A-Roll Lifter®
With the Hi-Rise On-A-Roll Lifter®, you and your workers will never have to strain your back again. This machine makes it easy to lift heavy rolls onto tall production tables for spreading, sewing, or finishing. The Hi-Rise On-A-Roll Lifter® is sleek enough to operate inside a limited amount of space, and it is designed to lift heavy media and fabric rolls as heavy as 440 pounds, or 200 kilograms, and as long as 6 feet, or 180 centimeters. These rolls can be lifted as high as 71 inches for storage or loading onto printers.
In mere minutes, any heavy roll can be set where it needs to go without pulling, heaving, or
hefting. You will avoid costly and dangerous mistakes in mishandling and have your business working at peak efficiency in no time with the sturdy steel construction of the Hi-Rise On-A- Roll Lifter®.
Textile industries across the world all understand the importance of having the right tools to get the job done in the best, most efficient way possible. At Sewn Products, we can help you find the perfect tools at affordable prices. Two of our most popular items are fabric end cutters and strip cutters because our customers understand that the biggest jobs require the most reliable tools
A good end cutter machine and a strip cutter machine will help you take your business to the next level. End cutters are used in cutting textiles quickly and accurately. Automatic machines can be calibrated to cut straight lines right where they need to be, and manual machines are set on guide rails so you can always get that clean, straight cut. no matter how long or how wide the fabric you are cutting, you will always be able to reach with the long handles on these machines.
Most end cutters are table-mounted and sport a rotary blade, although there are some equipped with a straight blade so the speed of the blade can be adjusted. Your company’s needs will dictate which machine will work best for you.
Automatic strip cutting machines are used for cutting fabric into strips. The machine speeds up the cutting process while maintaining a clean, precise cut. These are some of the fastest cutters available and can be easily adjusted for the length of the cut or the height of the machine.
Each of these excellent cutters will increase your factory efficiency and expedite every order you get. We can help you find the machine that best fits your needs. For those on a budget, manual machines may be your best bet. If you are looking to expand your business and grow your production, automatic machines are good investments for years to come.
Be sure you know what fabrics you will mainly be cutting with your machine, as different blades or speeds may be required for different materials. Non-woven fabrics are flexible and porous because they consist of multiple fiber layers, and each of the separate fibers may be oriented in different directions based on their manufacturing. The fibers are bonded by chemical, thermal, or mechanical processes, and they may not cut correctly without the right tool. Some non-woven fabrics can have the appearance of woven fabrics, so make sure you know what you’re dealing with before you make a final decision.
There are many industrial, non-woven materials beyond fabric to think of when choosing a

Have you ever been blown away by the creative artwork on a dress?
It is the work of a laser fabric cutter that makes these amazing details possible. Laser-cut fabrics are found often in the luxury apparel of high-end clothing stores, couture shops, and fashion runways. If you are looking to bring that same beauty and attention to detail to your clothing business, these automated fabric laser cutters are the tools for you. With its carbon dioxide glass laser and conveyor working table, there is no article of clothing you cannot cut or detail.
Laser cutters cut fabric without any pressure applied to the fabric, and that ability ensures that the fabric is left without rough or fraying edges after the process. The machine emits a high-powered laser beam to either cleanly cut or etch a specific design on a range of materials from fabric to steel to plastic. The heat from the friction of this process is mitigated with a constant temperature water cooling system.
Some laser cutters also employ a vision system. This means there is a camera within the machine that scans the fabric to recognize the pattern or pick up printed registration marks, and then it sends the information to the cutter machine. The entire process is completely automated, and the overall cost of the system is less than other fabric cutters. It also allows the fabric to be sealed in the cutting process, and makes cutting fabric, wood, and plastic that much easier.
There are many kinds of fabrics that can be cut by laser technology, including:
✔️ Polyester Silk
✔️ And more!
With a vision laser cutting system, there is no fabric you can’t turn into a beautiful, high-
quality piece of clothing fit for the runway. Watch your business soar!

How do you cut a material that is supposed to be knife and bullet proof?
With the right tools, it's not actually that complicated. Cutting through kevlar with the right tool is very doable.
Manual Ways to Cut Kevlar
There are many ways to cut Fiber glass and Kevlar by hand. The most popular way of cutting fiberglass, crazy as it seems, is scissors. The best scissors that I have found are Kretzer Germany Steel Scissors.
This brand last for a very long time due to its high quality steel, plus Kretzer designed serrated blades specifically for fiberglass industry. This designed blades enables the operator to cut the material more efficiently while keeping the cut quality high.
Motorized Tools to Cut Kevlar
Depending on your application there are different motorized tools that are designed for the Fiberglass industry. Here are the different power tools that I would recommend depending on the facility’s application (boat hauls, windmills, etc.):
Trimming single or every low ply
Eastman Buzzaird (pneumatic)
The Eastman Buzzard is a pneumatic driven rotary shear that reaches up to 20,000 RPM with high torque. This machine is designed for trimming single (or low) ply of material. You can see what I mean by trimming when you look at the video in the link above.
Rasor Optima 702 (electric- 110V or 220V)
Rasor Optima 702/703 is an electrically driven rotary shear. It is a high torque motor, so it can power through really tough material.
Rasor Zero702 (Battery)
Rasor Zero 702 is a battery operated rotary shear. It is the most powerful and robust battery rotary shear on the market. This machine has variable speed and it cuts fiberglass and kevlar like butter.
If you are cutting multiple layers or cutting kevlar and fiberglass on a table, I would recommend Straight Knife to cut your kevlar.
Eastman Brute is the heavy duty version of the Eastman Straight knife. It has more robust motor to add higher torque with the same RPM (3600 RPM). Having this type of cutting machine allows you to cut more material at the same time, while keeping the fiberglass away from the moving parts on the machine besides the knife. Fiberglass is a really abrasive material, so if it gets inside the machine (especially a moving part), it will bog down your machine and eventually break it. Check on the video in the link about to see what I mean by stack cutting or multiply cutting.
The best way to cut fiber glass automatic is by two ways: Cut to length machine or fully automated cutting machine.
Automatic Cutting Machine
The most efficient way to cut fiber glass and kevlar. This machine cuts fiberglass at amazing speeds with incredible accuracy. This system is designed to cut out any 2D shape on any material loaded into the bed of the cutter. They do have systems that also convey the material forward to make it even more efficient. Not only is the machine fast and accurate ,but it is so good for cutting fiberglass (depending on what type) because it uses a “crush style” cutting system to cut out the patterns. This helps certain fiberglass (not all) material from not fraying. These uses allow you to mark and punch the material also if needed.
Cut to Length
If your operation just need your material to be cut into squares or rectangles, than the cut to length machine is the correct machine for your application. The machine is designed to unwind a roll of material and measure the material to length. Once it measure the material to length it performs a cross cut on the fiberglass material. Then you have a perfectly measured cut to length pc of material. This machine is fully customizable; slitters, conveyor belt, rerolling attachment and etc.
Once you are equipped with the right tools, the actual how to of cutting kevlar is pretty straight forward. We have been helping companies find the right tools for the job for years. If you are looking at getting into cutting fiber glass or kevlar, we would be happy to help you find the machine that suits you!
